Many of us are reaching that point in our life, are currently in it, or have been in it. Post-grad depression is going through that strange transition from school, to the real world.
No more class schedules, homework, clubs, events or friends to see on the daily.
Often after graduation we are unemployed and looking for a job to use our degree we worked years on obtaining. Days turn into weeks of looking for a job and all hope falls into uncertainty of the future.
Coming up on graduation myself, these thoughts and worries are slowly becoming reality.
Here are some tips to help you get through post-grad depression.
1. Take a walk outside.
Get away from your phone, get off of your computer and take a walk. You will be surprised on how beautiful of a place you live in if you just go outside.
2. Stop comparing yourself to others.
You will never get anywhere in life if you constantly compare yourself to someone more successful. Everyone has to start somewhere, so focus on yourself.
3. Celebrate the little things.
Celebrate the little successes in life. Something as little as getting an interview, celebrate it, even if you don't get the job.
4. Continue to pursue your desired job
Don’t let depression get in the way of you finding the job you went to school for. Actively seek opportunities and build up your LinkedIn profile.
5. Remember: this stage in life is only temporary
This part of your life is not going to last forever. Your life is only beginning, get excited for what more there is to come.
