3 things to prioritize as a young adult

1. Health

  • Do a marathon, triathlon, or something similarly grand!

  • While you have your youth, you should utilize your body to the fullest. Before you complain of back problems and aching joints, get going and do what young men and women should be doing; live your life and use your body to its fullest, physical extent. You’ll thank yourself, too! The training and regular exercise will benefit your health.

2. Money

  • Be sure to have a healthy Raf-IRA, 401K, credit score, savings, and investment portfolio.

  • Yes, it does sound tedious, intimidating, and complicated and trust me its all three of those things, but the kicker is the huge amounts of money you will be gaining for yourself. This is the real "adulting," above being mature and taking care of your external responsibilities. At the end of the day, you want to have money in the bank and a lot of it.

  • Get in the habit of using credit cards WISELY to build a better credit history for your future.

  • Credit cards can be dangerous, right? Absolutely, if you let them get out of hand. The key to getting the most out of credit cards is treating them like debit. In other words, only spend what you have so that you never accrue credit card debit and interest. If you have credit card debit already, then do your absolute best to get that paid off as soon as you can. Try doing a balance transfer to help cut costs of interest!

  • Then why use credit cards you may ask? Why go through that extra step when I can use my debit card? That's because when you use your credit card you are building your credit score, every on-time payment you make grows that score! By doing nothing but frequently spending money, you improve your credit score! On top of that many credit cards have signup bonuses such as a cash-back percentage or points towards travel and airfare.

3. Loved ones

  • Spend time with the elderly people you value in your life, as time slips away faster as we get older.

  • Many of your relatives, friends, and close loved ones gave a lot so that you can be where you are today. Cherish your time with them while you have it. Don’t have any regrets when the time moves forward and it becomes too, late. Take them out to dinner, enjoy their company, maybe even go on that trip they always wanted to go on with them. You should take time to enjoy these moments in life while you have them. Show them you love them and your gratitude, they inevitably feel the same.
